1. Introduction

NeuroPace ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the NeuroPace mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect

NeuroPace is a local-first application. Your data stays on your device. We do not operate a backend service and do not upload your personal data.

• Sensory Profile: Your selected sensitivity preset (Light / Medium / High) is stored locally on your device using the Hive database. We have no access to it.
• Session History: The mode, start time, and duration of each reset session are stored locally. This is a record of when the reset was triggered; no personal content is captured.
• App Settings: Preferences such as language and the anonymous-usage-statistics toggle are stored locally on your device.
• Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated identifier is stored locally to support feedback emails. It is never transmitted to our servers.

3. Audio & Playback

The App plays bundled audio assets (white noise and binaural-beat tones) for the Sound Reset mode. These audio files are packaged with the App and processed entirely on your device. No audio is recorded, transmitted, or shared.

4. Deep Links & Home Screen Widget

The App supports the custom URL scheme neuropace://action/{mode} so the home-screen widget can open a specific reset mode. The widget runs in an isolated system sandbox and does not read your local app data; it only launches the App.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom (UK), the limited processing we perform relies on:

• Legitimate Interest (Article 6(1)(f)): Core functionality (local storage of your profile and session history) operates entirely on your device.
• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): Anonymous usage statistics are optional and controlled by an in-app toggle (disabled or enabled at your choice).

6. Anonymous Usage Statistics

If you enable anonymous usage statistics, only non-identifiable usage events (such as which reset mode was opened) are recorded locally. No health data, name, email address, or personal identifiers are collected. You may disable this at any time in Settings.

7. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The App does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that transmit data off your device.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of Access (Article 15): Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification (Article 16): Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to Erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your personal data.
• Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18): Request limitation of data processing.
• Right to Data Portability (Article 20): Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to Object (Article 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Right to Withdraw Consent (Article 7(3)): Withdraw consent at any time.
• Right to Lodge a Complaint: File a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard practices to protect data stored on your device. Since your data remains local, the primary security considerations are your device's own passcode and operating-system protections.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Not a Medical Device

NeuroPace is a sensory-reset aid, not a medical device. It cannot diagnose, treat, or cure ADHD, autism, or any medical condition. It does not collect or process health data for medical purposes.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
